When Samsung announced the GX serie showed the Samsung lenses co-development with Tokina-Pentax, the same DA* Pentax lenses.

http://pentaxlife.com/files/2006/10/samsung-star-lenses.jpg

Those models are the same Pentax DA* lenses, but was probably that Samsung put in them some difference like their own sonic motor version (DSM) and AF-limiter.
We will hope those models come back...

Just an observation: 960×720 isn't 3:2!
Appart from this it could be an interesting system (especially if the display and evf are really that good)...

"Seriously, does anyone care about a Samsung camera? What have they contributed to this extremely crowded market?"

Is the onlyone, together Sony, who makes APS-C DX sensor
Samsung makes display (TFT-LCD) to another brands
The Pentax camera are Samsung´s electronic design
Samsung has the best AMOLED and LED technology improvement
Samsung has a good partnership like Schneider

They can make cameras...

It looks like you're right about the size of the camera Dan :) Thanks for the link to the image.

Now there is only left to see the size difference between lenses.

Maybe it is more promising than I thought...

I found 2 of the missing comments, one to go:

from EdShan:
A new concept digital camera, the NX Series offers the performance and image quality of a DSLR and the portability and convenience of a compact point-and-shoot HAHAHAHAHAHA! Look at the pictures! Not even the Olympus EP-1 marketing team dare to say that (Not a compact. Not a DSLR. it''s a PEN"). And this samsung cameras (and the lenses!) are going to be bigger. You can carry the Pen in some trousers with big pockets or in a Coat... but barely. Small with good quality, that you can bring along just in case: Olympus EP-1.- Bigger, to go out shooting: use a real and resposnible DSLR (Nikon d40, D90, d700... or a Canon or...) that has an optic viewfinder and focuses fast.I don''t think they''re going to be very successful with that...The only little silly advantadge I can see is OLED, and you can just wait for this to appear on other cameras.

from m4/3:
Looks good, but the lenses look bigger than micro 4/3 lenses... Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

EdShan, the NX is the "same size" or maybe less than GH-1 with a bigger sensor.

Is probably Samsung announce the first fast zoom to EVIL system, we could see AMOLED and LED display technology in the same camera.

The E-P1 is another history with a bad LCD, without EVF and a pancake lens with big distorsion and a slow AF (dpreview review).

two of this comments were mine. Don't worry admin. Just ranting about Samsung saying in the press release "A new concept digital camera, the NX Series offers the performance and image quality of a DSLR and the portability and convenience of a compact point-and-shoot".

come on! it will be certainly bigger than a panasonic G1 and panasonic don't dare to say that! And the lenses in the press release look huge!

EP-1 is cargo pants or coat pocket portable and barely that ("not a compact. Not a DSLR. It's a Pen")

I don't think they will be very successful with that.
This NEW system apparently won't have either the advantages of a DSLR (the d60 is pretty small already and it has an optical viewfinder, fast autofocus...) nor the ones of the micro four thirds System (really more portable)..
