really ??? disregarding Samsung??

So far. Ricoh will be the best choice. Ricoh and Casio.
Ricoh used to carry pentax’s own K-mount in their SLR.
Casio used to do pentax lens in their digital compacts.
Can three of them join and create super strong alliance like but better than four-thirds?
It’ll be really interesting to see Ricoh working with Pentax and still use Samsung’s technology.

I think it’s pretty much a given that they will discontinue the d40 now that the d3000 is out.

The d40 has been very very good to Nikon and to cheapskates like me who don’t need/want every bell and whistle, but it’s time for Nikon to move on.

I may keep mine forever though. I don’t have a reason to trade up at this point.

I wonder if it’d be an alliance like the one Sony made with Konica Minolta – leading to eventual sale of it’s cameras part. I think that companies producing only point and shoot cameras now can be very interested in introducing to DSLR market.

It does seem like the buzz from Pentax K-7 has died down.

This was hyped as the best Pentax digital camera ever and an amazing value, so if it flops, what next?

So, I’m not surprised.
