Its about a 1.7x lie.In other words the linear resolution of of co-sited sensor is about 1.4x that of a bayer sensor. But yes, still using the same 4.7 MPx foveon (6.6 Mpx Bayer equivalent) sensor means that Foveon sensor development has halted. SD15 is an incremental improvement, but much more would be needed at this stage to rescue the format.

14 isn’t a 3x lie. No change in sensor, like when fuji went from S3 to the S5 does not bode well in this fast paced digital market.

Agree that the SD15 is a *yawn* product but at least Sigma is willing to do things diferently. I wonder why are they going to make SD15 - is there any REASONABLE excuse? Do they earn anything on these cameras? Tons of R&D yet barely anything sold... duh... I don't get it

Foveon was a wrong technology in wrong times… perhaps 10 years ago it would be cool but not now…<br

If they still haven't been able to up this miserable pixel count (14 is a 3X lie) that means only one thing; they can't figure out how to do it!
Stick a fork in them, they're done.

No doubt about it. That is absolutely the final nail in Sigma’s camera making coffin.<br
