If they had brains we would now have 70-200mm OS HSM for half the price of OEM ones. Same goes for 24-70mm. If they want to look disposable that their choice.

The optical formula is different from the old 70-300, so we’ll have to wait and see how the optical quality is. My guess is that it will be better, since they’re wouldn’t be much point in redesigning a lens to make it worse.

And they are even behind in focus motor, so the only thing added is the letters O and S

I’m disappointed that this version doesn’t have the 1:2 macro capability, neither the same number of SLD glasses as in the old 70-300 APO Macro version. I’m guessing that the optical quality will be closer to the previous non-APO version of this lens.
