Well, the Nikon equivalent of theis 85mm isn't sharp wide open either. Actually the lens design of those two is pretty similar. As far as I heard, it's quite good wide open on DX, but fairly soft in the corner of FX. But taking in to account that it runs for about a third or a quarter, I think there's nothing to complain about.

The product page for the 85mm here:

http://www.samyang.pl/product,21,category,5,samyang_85_mm_f14_aspherical_if

They are shockingly honest about their own products:

"At this price, even if it does lack razor-sharpness, it will seem a very attractive offer to many photography lovers."

I think that summarizes the situation perfectly.

If this lens is half as good as the 85 f/1.4, i expect it to kick the Canon EF 14m f/2.8 L:s pricey little butt.

you miss-spelled "high quality", it should be "in some conditions acceptable but for price not worthy". besides, what is 85mm with bokeh worse then 80-200

It is. The 85mm also states MC in its official name, and this is its package:

Samyang lenses are all MF isn't it ? Although that's not a problem with such a wide angle :)
The 85/1.4 of the same company was of high optical level, let's wait to have a review ;)
