Oh I completely agree, and well said, Sky. The unfortunate aspect is that the vast majority of the American consumer market lacks your rationale.

Well, IHMO the 7D isn't competition to A850 - it's like comparing advanced compact and DSLR - who cares if compact have more options or even higher resolution when you can get completely different effects with DSLRs. It's quite similar here - FFrames are different cameras than ASP-C.

And the TX1. I still don't think the backlit sensors are going to make their way into DSLR. The benefits are substantially smaller on a chip of that size vs. a super small sensor like those used in camcorders and compact DSC. That being said, it would be super sweet to see an A700 replacement or the A900 replacement. The A850 is nice, especially for the money but the irony is that more people will get suckered into the 7D with it's near impossible 18mp to resolve, than they will a well built full frame for a mere $300 more. It won't be the resolution, which people were already screaming about in the 50D (which Canon once again proves was merely a band-aid: way to beta test using your adoring public), it'll be because of video and on-paper speed specifications. Galbraith has already stated that the speed and accuracy are mutually exclusive companions in that one distinctly gets rid of the other... who knows?

Then again, I'm hoping it's a product to compete with the G11 or LX3. It's high time the V series reared it's head again. That V1 was nice! Orrr perhaps a new R series? That would be even sweeter.
