LIke zeeGerman pointed out below - "there's a bot of softness in the corners, but step down it seems to perfom pretty well". That applies to the 85mm Samyang aswell. When you consider the price difference between an equivalent Nikkor and the Samyang, you soon realize what a bargain the Samyang lenses are (or rebranded as Falcon and a few other rebrand names).
Samyang reminds me of what Kiron was offering in days forever gone - amazing lens value for the money.

The Samyang 85mm is another bargain basement wonder. 8mm 3.5 I thinkkinda crap that all the lenses from them are manual (for wide angle its ok but for 85 its kinda down scaling)

Considering fisheye lens from this guys maybe in a next few month<br

For images shot with a Canon one would expect JPEGs to be sharper than they are if the lens was halfway decent.I want to see the corners on FX. I can only imagine how terrible they look.

All of the samples are extremely soft and lack contrast. They were shot on a 20D, a low resolution cropped sensor (1.6X) camera, resulting in 21-22mm equivalent FOV. Most any lens ( including coke bottles ends) will look good cropped away from the corners and stopped down. Still, probably a passable lens, especially since it is likely to be used rarely.Oh,and the big piece of glass up front will impress the chicks and will make me look like a "pro" :-)

The sample pics are rather disingenuous. People who buy a lens to use on a camera to take photogrpahs, that's who..
Those who "ONLY" buy a brand name to hang around their neck so everyone can see their expensive toys, would likely never even consider this lens.
The older version if this lenses got lots of great reviews by people who actually used the lens to take photographs. I believe a technical review of the older Samyang lens put it's performance not much different to an equivalent sized Nikkor. I bet that most would not be able to tell the difference between an enlargement (say 8x12) taken with the Falcon/Samyang and the same shot taken with an equivalent sized Nikkor or Canon or Sony or Pentax lens. I suspect the way the different camera brands handle sharpening, noise, white balance, colour rendition and JPG conversion and even RAW conversion would have far more effect on the final photos than the lens used in such a comparison.

“WHO BUYS A FALCON LENS??”

People who buy a lens to use on a camera to take photogrpahs, that’s who..

Those who “ONLY” buy a brand name to hang around their neck so everyone can see their expensive toys, would likely never even consider this lens.

The older version if this lenses got lots of great reviews by people who actually used the lens to take photographs.
