Pentax started as a German camera name (Pentaprism + Contax), which was acquired by Asahi Optical Co. Asahi's U.S. marketing partner was Heiland, a Denver-based manufacturer of flash equipment. Honeywell/Heiland was acquired by 3M. So, depending on year of manufacture, what started as the Asahiflex may be marked Asahi Pentax, Heiland Pentax, or Honewell Pentax. It's not a premium version, just later manufacture. A 1964 Pentax would be marked Heiland. I'm not sure when the badges changed to Honeywell. Honeywell had acquired Heiland in 1949.http://www.flickr.com/groups/oldfilmcameras/discuss/72157620295165987/

“only to sell to fellow country-mate”

Some background info on Pentax which might be of interest:<br

However, I do think the idea of JVC buying Pentax is a bit far fetched. The two companies are very, very different. Maybe that's the key, though? JVC has been so bland for so long, perhaps Pentax's ability to think out of the box could help?

Actually, celebrate for you are correct <img

Panasonic no longer wanted to play in the DSLR realm, so there is no point to this rumor.

I could be wrong (what else is new), but if memory serves me JVC is a unit of Matsushita, which is better known as Panasonic.
