What you see in the photo is not the rumored Pro2 , it is the old Pro1 of 2004! And while the rumor says that the Pro2 will have the same form factor as Pro2 that doesn’t mean it’ll have exactly the same lines and design touches, look at the EP1 and GF1 the same form factor but very different styles.

Reminds me of a slightly smaller version of the Sony CD Mavica based on the body design. Gross!

Hilarious. Only Canon could pull of a smaller sensor interchangeable lens camera and someone will actually laud it’s capabilities. Meanwhile, Olympus and Panasonic have been working on mastering the art of the (now larger than the rumored Canon sensor) 4:3 sensor for years, all while taking it in the ear from many people, most especially the extraordinarily insufferable Canon forum browsers, for having a smaller sensor size.

Canon gets away with murder. The EOS 7D is on it’s 3rd gen firmware upgrade, all in its first 45 days of release, due to major bugs and people STILL drool over it. Almost any other manufacturer would be pasted for releasing an unfinished model but Canon somehow…

I cannot wait to see what Sony or Nikon may or may not have up their sleeve. Ironically, though, it’s likely to be Sony or Canon or Panasonic who really take the cheese in small sensor Interchangeable lens systems… their video experience will place them far ahead of their competition. Ricoh’s new bit is novel but dang if you don’t have to buy a new camera every time you want a new lens…

That is just what I wanted. Don´t change lens, and have a EVF. Thanks Canon. It would also be nice to heve a longer zoom like 26-260mm.

how Canon could reach specs like these step by step?: 1) they first would think they don’t want to start a new line of interchangeable lenses 2) but the camera must also have some zoom power and satisfactory focal range 3) all in the same time of it being relatively compact and with a relatively large sensor.
=> the points above together would lead them to a compromise of a smaller than 4/3 sensor combined with a focal range better than a single lens of m4/3 (14-45mm eq to 28-90) but less than the double lens kit (14-45+45-200 eq to 28-400). most probably also the size/weight/price will all be lower than say G1+14-45 combo, and that’s where canon can claim they have a winner against m4/3. note also that the lens is faster and 2mm wider than the lumix 14-45 , and is likely of better optical+build quality.

Wow. canon tries to get into the mix with one of the ugliest cameras I’ve ever seen. it is the Pontiac Aztek of cameras. Hey! Canon! just put a big sensor in the G11 already.

Canon are so frikkin useless when it comes to getting a clue. They should’ve done this a long time ago with the G-series. Is it a surprise that their “big” sensor compact comes in the shape of a mutated DSLR? Think small camera, large sensor, Canon!

They’re always the last to get in on something and always acting like they know better than the people out there who actually use their shit. I’d like to walk up to the board of directors and slap them around for a couple of hours and tell them to grow a pair.

I love my 5D’s, but jesus is this company frustrating!

13.8×10.4mm or 2.5X?

That’s interesting as it’d be very much like the rumored Nikon 17mm EVIL which is also 2.5X crop factor. I wonder if both Canon and Nikon are using the same sensor and if so I’d bet the sensor is from Sony.
