The rumor is that Ricoh will release a 28-300mm lens unit for their GXR system. The release time frame is 3 to 4 months.

Yes, with a micro sensor… I am still waiting for a serious reason to invest in the GXR system (e.g. a very good wide angle lens with very good sensor, etc.)
I too would buy a GXR if there was a good, fixed wide angle lens. Like the 38 mm lens on the contax t2. No more zoom lenses.
I’d find a high sensitive with relative low noise and a thiny normalperspective pancake absolute interesting. Just something for the jacket and bad light conditions. If the Sensor and the lens where changeable too, it would be even more interesting. Mainly with bigger and more expensive Sensortypes.
A prime lens will arrive…
Which prime lens? Details would be appreciated, as so far the system is devoided of any interest..
yes, please release 35mm f/2 module then I’ll jump to it.
The real problem with the GXR is that the sensor itself is not modulable.
I would love to see a 20mmx20mm 20MP sensor. & a panoramic sensor as well.
I’d love a fast wideangle, but unless Ricoh can improve the GXR’s autofocus I can’t consider the system. At least with the GRD the inherently large DOF makes snap focus easy to use quickly and get subjects in focus, but with a large sensor and open aperture it’s much less successful unless you’re freakishly talented at gauging the snap distances. AF is a serious issue and there is no suggestion that Ricoh is working on it or even able to improve it.
A sensor only unit with F/M/any mount really but include adaptors for other mounts and I thnk I’ll jump on the GXR wagon too.
2 more entrants I’m also keenly watching – nikon n fuji’s entrants b4 I hand away my hard-earned cash.
Agree, let’s wait for these new competitors in this segment of the market. I would love to have a E-pen type of camera but improved (even smaller if possible, no AF problems, better screen, ecc.). And of course I am waiting for a mirrorless with a decent range of dedicated lenses, in particular primes (apparently Panasonic + Oly did not think much about primes when they planned the new system, and let’ not talk about Samsung and Ricoh)
a 28-300 would probably mean a tiny 1/2.3″ sensor
At this point in the development of the GXR , I am convinced it would be a BIG mistake to come with a tiny 1/2.3″ sensor on a camera that is not cheap
This is not the kind of sensor that would be of interest to GXR buyers
I hope that it would be more like a 80-200 or 80-300 on a 1/1.7″ sensor or bigger
( this way it would complement the S10 module)
this is for the zoom crowd
since a tele zoom was announced as the next one , so be it
But I think the priority after that should be single focal lengths for the A12 module
chiefly a 24 mm and a 85mm equivalents

21,24,28 or 35 mm ?
Surprise…
