well if its like any other price conversion then USD price will be $13k dollars in which case is a helluva deal. You cant take the euro price and convert it for our market, cus if you did you would be paying 7500 for a 1D4 which is not the case.

I don't know how things work in the States, but in Europe a new exemplar of a new model of Haaselblad has never approached the 1000 number. I remember when they "discounted" the basic 501 to 3000 euros, and all retailers here kept on saying it was a steal... Not considering the special models such as the SWC...
And all in all, with digital all prices of camera bodies have decuplicated, from SLR up...

" if you’re a successful pro photographer you should be afford it. its not a camera for the masses."

If you are a successful pro photographer you probably already own a MF body, I thought the hole point of this camera was to be revolutionary in some way.

Hasselblad - because we can be more Appleish then Apple, more Leicaish then Leica and not understand our market all at one nice overrated package.
In mean time, pros are shaking their heads about funny promotional events and celebrity ads and shoot with leaf/PO.

I don't understand how it can compete with high megapixel DSLRs when it's still the same H4D body? The Leica S2 is a completely new package and system. This H4D-40 is just marketing hype :(

Well at $400 per month & exceptional interist rates that would take A tad bit over 4 years to pay off. Not exactly what I was expecting. Need the price a little bit lower to really get some of us art students, advanced amatures, & even most pros to seriously start increasing sales, but it is a start. Maybe if combined with some of the features DSLR users have come to rely on, it may make a differance for thier bottom line. Just as of yet won't include me, though I do wish. 8-)

I am also confused - it is cheaper than the Leica S2, but not affordable. I guess I was right about the social media website :)

So what exactly is the H4D-40? Just a H4D with a 40 megapixel back? How can that be considered compact? I wouldn't even say the $18,000USD price is affordable.

They are also introducing the Hasselblad Owners Club. An online social network for hassy owners.
