i dont think that C/N want to enter the market. Why? Price of DSLR with quality little above P&S. No point here

compact APS-C however is something different…

*YAWN* Oh, it’s another Olympus try, going back to sleep…

Olympus seem to only take baby steps. It’s sad to see them still trying to catch up with Panasonic’s first attempt at a small m43 camera, GF1. So now they put out a plastic body, corrected their lack of built-in flash mistake, and lowered the price point. If they really did remove manual control, expect to see another rush job in about 3-6 months to try and “fix” the errors they made. This camera shouts “cheap, cheap, cheap”, and I’m not talking price here. Sad to see little competition in the m43 market. Panasonic is just competing with time since Nikon and Canon are sure to enter the EVIL market and introduce the competition that Olympus can’t seem to provide. I doubt the big 2 will be as bumbling as Olympus.

No, it has a manual mode. There’s clearly an “M” on the top dial. I think Olympus just isn’t emphasizing that with this camera. Note that the control wheel from the EP-1 & 2 is missing, so the manual mode will likely be menu driven.

There don’t seem to be any adjustment dials on the body, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it was lacking fully manual modes. Plus even in the pictures that body looks cheap.

In spite of including many of the same features, I doubt Olympus have endangered the E-P1 and E-P2 market shares too much. The will take some of the entry-level DSLR and high-end compact territory though…

I dont think this is the whole specs brochure…but if it is, i understood the same as you…specially the “Don’t worry about learning technical things like f-stops, shutter speed” part….

Those are some slow lenses (again), maybe they are “compact”, but not really first pick if you ask me (as a second body to a DSLR, who wants slow lenses?).
