How are you gonna use 18mp with a 18-55 is?????

You have to use L lenses or top ef-s/ prime lenses to get nice results with 18mp.

Well that's certainly been the complaint for the 7D... image softness... but at least that user has the inclination to upgrade optics immediately.

It's overkill. Lovely specifications but completely overkill. Brilliant marketing: Canon produces a camera that creates images that the customer will think are brilliant because they are told the images are brilliant. It doesn't matter that the sensor will be crippled by all but around 14 of Canon's lenses, none of which the Rebel users will ever own...

Also I've never been much impressed with the 7D metering or color accuracy... Canon's never been super strong in this regard as it is. We'll see if the dumbed down version will be able to take care of the point and shooter.

Kudos on the .mov format. Canon's moving in the right direction where editable content is concerned, especially for their avid Mac fanbase. Quicktime straight. I'll be interested to see if it can handle fast-pan and action. the 7D really cannot, so I doubt it... but Canon's got the right idea.

18mp lol, I wonder how many people are going to make the most of it. There will be no point if the lens that comes with it isn't good enough. Canon should've cut down on the megapixels and done something about the noise like they did with their G11.

According to DPReview, it is a different sensor than the one in the 7D

But surely it's got too many pixel and its images are soft! And it's not FF! And doesn't have a second jog wheel!

Oops, spent too much time on the CanonRumor website.

Since it uses the 7D's sensor, this little camera will have good image quality and less amount of noise than any other Canon APS-C before.

Put that in a small and light body with many features for 900$ and you just won!

This sounds like a winner. Let's see how Nikon reacts (other companies are not really competing, apparently ...)
I wish that sensor were used in a compact EVIL camera...

Sounds almost too good to be true.... amazing specs and value.

This also must indicate that the 5DII firmware has to bring 720p/ 50fps / 60 fps
