If significantly more than $6500, then this is great marketing. Keep us watching, anticipating unprecedented prices, then lower the pricing boom.

Is anyone able to read labels on the lens? I'm not sure if it's been talked or not, but what about the lens? I mean the system - the current range (DA) is designed to fit crops only and I'm not able to find any announcements saying that Pentax is going to bring to lenses.

Although I'm not that big MF (645, 6x7) boy, probably if those old midframe lens are still in production and they fit this 645D then there shouldn't be any mess on this at all.

Yours,
Zig

P.S.

I'm still set on the p25+ back with its larger sensor (49x37mm) and relatively low price. It only has 22MP, but I assume if you're going for MF, you're doing it for the format, not pixels or high ISO performance.

If you want to settle for 44x33mm, there's plenty of used H2D-31 & H3D-31's for similar prices.

The small format gear has it purpose, and I wouldn't abandon it. But, for portraits and certain commercial work, this would beat the pants of a D3x. And I, for some odd reason, want a native ISO of 100 or 80....

Why would they create a manual if it is not the final version:

http://photorumors.com/2009/11/27/more-pentax-645d-details/pentax-645d-2/
http://photorumors.com/2009/11/27/more-pentax-645d-details/pentax_645d/

maybe this manual was not final either?

not a chance vincent. It's not a camera for home photography - it's STUDIO camera, where you have unlimited light, perhaps also for good-weather outdoor photography, but still it's not for reporters who need high ISO.
That kind of hopes is what make people disappointed when they have all the reasons to be uber-happy. See Alpha 900 as an example. "High Iso" they say, "bad JPGs" they say - but if someone buys A900 he doesn't care about anything else than ISO 100 and RAW.

I'll leave the Nikon in dust for sure. Even if it'd have poor, old sensor - it still would be better than any current Nikon.
I mean... c'mon - it's Medium Format with all it's advantages!

Hmm... The brand new Hasselblad H4D-40 with micro-lenses on the sensor is able to deliver superb pictures at ISO 400, very good ones at ISO 800 and usable ones at ISO 1,600 and this is quite an achievement in the MF world.

As nice as this sounds I think Nikon have the better system overall so I personally wouldn't get rid of my Nikon gear. I also think the current full frame nikons are more versatile... Guess we'll have to see what the image quality is like.

um no offense but pentax and the leica S2 dont compare at all and it makes no sense to compare them. Hassy , or phase one are actual comparisons. This pentax might be awesome, but it wont be a match for the leica.
