Never said resolution is all that matters, but it matters as well – don’t you think?
Besides, we’re talking about 10k $, in which I believe only the 18 (they still sell it?) and 22MP backs can fit.

Maybe your refering to the old ZD back which is old and 22mp but the nex 18,22, and 33 megapixel backs are all between the 8 – 15 grand point and all competition. You should know better then to believe resolution is all that matters, colour and range are just as important if not more so to me.

In other words, Pentax launched a camera with the potential to grab more than half of the market – but this doesn’t matter, it’s not “full frame” thus they’ll die, poor them. They should’ve instead made a $30k camera almost no one would buy, in order to survive. Oh, yeah.
Sorry, but that “full frame” thingie is just a meaningless label. And the 645D’s sensor is bigger than what Bonetti was calling “full frame” (and what I’d call the small format)…

Unfortunately for Pentax, full frame is full frame of the targeted format. The 44x33mm’s of the 645D are far from home. There’s one from Leaf at 56mm. They just need to bring the height up to 56 from 36mm and you got full frame 6×6.

For the 10k you can get the 22MP Mamiya – old sensor, old hardware. Sorry, but that’s not competition

ummmm, that just sounds silly. they have a product, this is that company’s store for those products. those products come in different colors, you are doing your customers a disservice by not showing all your available colors if you have them.

When you put out a exclusive type shop its not unsual to expect something a little sophisticated. Nothing against the products just dispalying every rainbow colour they can is not the best way to go. instead they should have displayed there DSLR line maybe in black and white, lenses and nicer point and shoots and skipped the rainbow parade.

This is the very first BIG reason why i never go away of pentax system after a few years of using nikon and olympus, Aside from K-7, Medium Format Pentax 645D is a way to go in going to commercial pro photogs and consider to be more cheaper or less than half the price from the competition, Less necessity for interpolation when printing real HUGE size image meaning less distortion or less blurring in big size. This the only camera in Medium Format that is worth saving for, and I intended to have when my money and time is enough. woahh ! — darrel

Willoughby’s was a fantastically bad choice for Pentax. Here’s hoping they wake up, smell some coffee and make the 645D available through Adorama and B&H.

I’d never buy anything at Willoughby’s–they have a reputation as sleazebags and scammers. Pentax and Leica teaming up with them tells me someone’s not watching the helm at either company.

Plus, what the heck is Pentax offering that I can’t get from Nikon, Canon, or one of the already established MF camera systems? Red or blue DSLR’s? Sign me up for a dozen!
