 The first RED Epic M has shipped

The first RED Epic-M camera has shipped to Mark Pederson (from OffHollywood studio). The M stands for machined version that will later be followed by production EPIC-X model.

    If Red can actually get a few Epic cameras into the market this will be a game changer for more professional work at the lower end of the spectrum, not just cinema that the Red One is being used for today. Of course they will have to fix some reliability issues that seem to happen with their cameras.

    One of the selling points is the single frame (stills) quality that can come off the camera.

    I would like to see some of the stills and a critical comparison against DSLR and MF cameras. Not that anyone would purchase an Epic for that use, strictly.
