    Seriously? no comments yet?
But it might be interesting if these lenses can compete with others…

No, it is not. Samsung makes all NX lenses by themselves.

It would be damn interesting if they also have a serious camera, not the current NX ones (which might be nice ones, but just a me-too attempt at mirrorless).
Frankly I might be biased towards DSLRs for their viewfinder and autofocus, but I wouldn’t dismiss anything else that can be really responsive *and* would have a truly useful design for the viewfinder and handling.
Up until now the current crop of EVIL cameras has way too many limitations, o for anybody trying to make use of a multi-thousand dollar lens. Hope that (repeating myself) the Samsung 300/2.8 will be accompanied by a camera that can be called truly professional.

My camera adapter and accessory seller friend probably gets to try out and use more cameras on a daily basis than anyone I know besides perhaps camera dealers. Unlike a dealer he gets to see the customer weeks after they made the purchase, helps them select an adapter and troubleshoot their problems. He eventually settled on the NX100 for its creamy smooth and naturally coloured images, not to mention its aggressively low price point.

I somehow believe it could be about $1600 +/- $150. No?

Why? The whole point of the NX series is small size. Toting around a 2 foot long, 6″ diameter, 6lb lens isn’t small.

Did anybody else spot a large black catadioptric supertelephoto lens (donut shaped blank at 1:13), or a large white supertelephoto prototype? Both show up at 1:21.

What an excellent promo video to endear us to Samsung, love the component views.
I can’t wait for the day when Samsung get similiar DXO scores to the market leaders we all will benefit. Untill then i watch Samsung expectantly.

The focus ring on the 300mm turns in the opposite direction to NX lenses…but in the same direction as Sammy’s GX lenses (which were Pentax clones using the same K mount). I suspect this is a leftover from the GX days when they thought they might stay with DSLRs and were thinking of designing lenses not offered by Pentax.

As far as using a lens this large with an NX10, I see no issues. When you have a large lens, you hold the lens, not the camera (if you’re not using a tri/monopod, which you should), so a smaller camera might in fact be preferable.

The 300mm f/2.8 would have to be slightly redesigned mechanically to work optimally with CDF (and the shorter registration distance), but the optical design wouldn’t change much (if at all), so it’s possible we might see this lens in the future if Sammy’s “pro” body gains enough traction. And who knows, maybe Sammy has other cool lens designs left over from their Pentax collaboration days and we’ll see them come to light over the next 2 years.
