I’m guessing that’s supposed to say “4K-Selfie” and not “Selphy” (which is Canon’s series of dye-sublimation photo printers). There probably isn’t an actual Japanese word for “selfie” yet despite Casio’s “selfie boutiques” being everywhere.

      Jidori
which has been used for decades longer than “selfie” has in english a portmanto of “Jiko” (self) and “dori” (take (a picture))
      so “take self (picture)”
Canon’s use of “selphy” isn’t actually derived from the english word selfie rather its a phonetic transliteration of the english word “self” in to japanese phonetics, where it becomes “Serufu”(with a soft “L” like “R” so it sounds almost like selfu) and then back in to english with the old creative spelling of Selphy for marketing spin.

However like English the Japanese are long time enthusiastic borrowers of other languages words and they do sometimes use the english word “selfie” instead of jidori

Same here, given the monitor confituration

And yes, anything written in katakana can be confusing

    “Color: silver, orange”

Orange in case you want to make sure your camera never gets stolen…

I was interested in the GF7 until i handled it. That plastic has a very cheap feel to it. The Canon M10 is also all plastic but has a good quality feel to it.
    Hopefully this one is better.

Looks like a great MFT camera for drone video. Lightweight and affordable.

  • in other words just another camera with nothing special

There’s no physical AE Lock button (only programmable to other buttons I believe) so the NTSC framerate hack via button sequence could be a challenge, or even impossible. (BTW think the GF9 will be system-locked as usual)

No view finder is a deal breaker for me. Don’t care if it is not that good, but to have nothing when the sun is bright is just terrible. First the LX-10, now this. Have used the DMC-LF1 for back-up travel camera professionally, and having a view finder has been a life saver.

  • totally nothing special, why even bother adding video or 4k when there is no external mic or hdmi for video. stick to photography if you may
