Adobe Photoshop CS6 screenshots leaked

Appleinsider got their hands on several screenshots from the upcoming Adobe CS6 that is expected to be announced next year. Some of the new features are darker interface theme, 3D capabilities and autosave.

Recently Adobe has demoed several new features, including Image Deblurring and Patchmatch.

Adobe announces new cloud based storage

The previously reported rumors were true - today Adobe announced a new cloud based storage for photographers called Carousel.

LAS VEGAS, Photoshop World 2011 — Sept. 7, 2011— During the Photoshop World 2011 keynote, Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) announced Adobe® Carousel™ for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Mac OS. Adobe Carousel is designed for anyone who loves photographs, takes a lot of them, and needs a simple way to view, browse, adjust and share them without worrying about manual syncing or storage. Adobe Carousel uses the powerful photo-processing technology that is used in Adobe Photoshop® Lightroom®, so customers get the finest photo-editing results delivered consistently no matter what the device. Photos look great and are easy to share directly with family and friends.

Adobe Carousel is comprised of a set of client apps for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Mac OS desktops (versions for Windows and other devices are expected in the first half of 2012). When customers import their photo library into Adobe Carousel, or take new photos using Adobe Carousel on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, those photos are automatically accessible on any supported device through the cloud-based smart mesh technology incorporated in Adobe Carousel. Once imported, any edits, deletions or additions to the library made on one device are automatically updated across all devices linked with the account. With Adobe Carousel, manual syncing and device storage limitations are a thing of the past.

Setting up Adobe Carousel is easy. Customers will just download the apps, set up a subscription plan on their iPhone and iPad, and they are ready to go. Subscribers can import a virtually unlimited number of JPEG files, and install Adobe Carousel apps on as many of their compatible devices as they want.

Adobe cloud?

Adobe may come out with some kind of a cloud solution for photographers that will allow synced access to their entire photo library on various devices (phone/tablet/computer):

"No matter which device is in your hand, you see your entire photo library. So those hundreds of photos you took while touring through Italy with your smartphone would also appear in the library on your tablet device and at home on your laptop…just like that.
At Adobe, we’re exploring solutions to get you there. And it should come as no surprise that we will also leverage the power of Photoshop editing technology for quick fixes along the way."

Photoshop expands to mobile devices

There have been few hints in the past about a potential Adobe Lightroom version for the iPad (see here and here). In their latest presentation, Adobe showed content-aware fill on an Android tablet and paint mixing on an iPad that can be wirelessly transferred to your computer:

It seems that the direction Adobe is taking, is to use mobile devices as an additional tool to Photoshop instead of creating standalone mobile applications (they already have PS Express app). MacRumors showed some mockups on how those Photoshop tools may look on iPad and iPhone:

Microsoft to acquire Adobe?

The Net is buzzing about a potential Microsoft acquisition of Adobe. Reportedly, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer recently met with Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, which triggered a stream of speculations. As result, Adobe shares surged 12% on the stock market.

What is a Plenoptic camera?

Plenoptic technology is developed by Adobe and it lets you select which part of the image you want to be in focus. A Plenoptic camera contains an array of microlenses between the front lens and the sensor and it captures a series of small images from different viewpoints that can later be extracted and manipulated by special software in order to reach a certain depth of field during postprocessing.

Todor Georgiev is one of the scientist from Adobe that worked on that project and on his website I even found a picture of the the first plenoptic camera on the market produced by the German company Raytrix:
