Two new Olympus lenses in 2012: M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f/1.8 and 60mm f/2.8 Macro

In addition to the OM-D E-M5 camera ($999), Olympus also announced the development of two new lenses that will be announced by the end of the year:

The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm F1.8 lens has a very bright, large F1.8 aperture in a beautiful full-metal design. This lens is great for portrait photography.
Offers high-speed shooting with a bright F1.8 suitable for the studio use, low light shots and indoor sports.
High quality metal design and finish.
Expected launch by the end of the year 2012. Specifications and price are not yet determined.
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 60mm F2.8 Macro lens has excellent close-up shooting capability, in a dust-/ splash-proof body. This lens is ideal for nature photography.
Offers the 1:1 life size magnification (equivalent to 2:1 in 35mm) at the closest focusing distance of 0.19m/0.62ft.
Dust-/splash-proof design.
Expected launch by the end of the year 2012. Specifications and price are not yet determined.

After Komamura joined the Micro Four Thirds System Standard Group last year, today Olympus announced that Astrodesign, Kenko Tokina and Tamron have also joint the group:

Sony to acquire newly issued Olympus stock

Wells Fargo did it again (Olympus OM-D)

After a series of prematurely published news (Nikon D4, Fuji X-Pro 1, Canon G1x), Wells Fargo did it again with the Olympus OM-D:

"The new OM-D model will be offered in the United States, Europe and some Asian countries as the top model of the company's digital mirrorless interchangeable lens camera series, selling for above 100,000 yen in Japan. The new model resembles the OM-1 film camera and is equipped with high-speed autofocus and image stabilization functionality as well as 16 megapixel resolution."

First picture of the upcoming Olympus OM-D camera

On the first leaked picture of the Olympus OM-D camera we can see two of the dials on the top plate (previously reported here). The new camera is expected to be announced on February 8th, 2012. The price is expected to be around $1,100.00 in the US.

In a recent newsletter from the Focus on Imaging expo, the new Olympus camera was described as "high-end product aimed at the enthusiast market":

“Focus 2012 will be the first UK viewing of Olympus’ hot new high-end product aimed at the enthusiast market. To be formally announced on 8 February, Olympus promises an action-packed stand full of surprises to mark the occasion – One Major camera’s much anticipated first public view in the UK. We can’t tell you what but there is a clue beginning with One.”
