What's the point of this camera/lens? It is dearer than a reflex with APS-C, less capable and not smaller.

@Grgor I agree with you. I think Oly went for the retro vibe ala the X100 but, in that quest, they showed a remarkable lack of imagination.

That being said, a 150mm equivalent f/1.8 lens is very nice. Olympus has done well with their lenses but, really needs to invoke Steve Jobs' (first thing that came to mind) idea of design. The bodies don't match with the lenses at all. Blocky looking and have to be honest here, they look like toy cameras. I'd be inclined to get an Olympus if they came up with something a little better (and stealthier) looking.

How is this lens 2x better than for example Nikon 85mm f/1.8G AF-S? Shouldn't it be even cheaper due to smaller sensor and therefore less glass inside?

Nice lens, but looking at OM-D never stops amazing me in negative way. Why on earth that camera design gives implication of prism and optical viewfinder as it lack those. There is suppose to be an electronic viewfinder isn't it? Olympus should look at new Sony-, Fuji-, and Samsung-cameras. In their mirrorless camera design the viewfinder is placed in upper left-corner, which is the most logical place to put it, not in the middle of camera.

"A textured metallic outer finish exudes quality and sophistication, while the large 50mm diameter glass front lens conveys a sense of power and performance"

I'm sure there are some people that actually find this lens useful, but it seems to me, that quote up there is the real point. The lens will look great on your camera! The camera will look great with the lens on it! You will look so professional with it!

Nevertheless, nobody's forced to buy it, and we have one more (probably optically excellent) m43 lens. that's great.
Now, a 200mm f/4 maybe? long primes are missing in m43 as much as short ones are missing in Nikon DX.

I guess going mainstream is your thing then?
Doing just what everybody else is doing and going with the flow...
Just like sheep, or even better just like the Lemming you don't believe you are.
I guess you also have an iPhone. So you can "be different", just like everybody else.

Now go play your Mitsubishi camera. It has to be good. It has a 40% marketshare. Just like Nokia did. And RIM. And the Sony Walkman. And Palm. And AOL. And Yahoo. And PanAm. And Agfa. And Polaroid. And Kodak. And TWA. And WorldCom.
I mean, 40% man. IT HAS TO BE GOOD! Doesn't it...???

...it does, doesn't it...?

@Phil

Oh how I wish Pentax would pay Nikon to license CLS so we could have modern strobe support!

I have never put my K200 in a shower but after one beach shoot I thought I would never get all the sand off of it. I took it to Afghanistan resigned to the thought it would not last the year but despite epic dust storms, snow, rain and more than one hard hit, it came out just fine. And that was on top of the normal abuse of bouncing off my body armor, being tossed not the back of a HMMWV and generally subjected to harsh conditions. I used to laugh as the Combat Camera guys would scramble to cover their Nikon's in ran that I didn't think twice about shooting in.

Right about the lack of focus peaking... But the real interest here would be a focus assist with AF points of the OVF, otherwise Sony's EVF are still better (and already with focus peaking)...

Sure, will work with all M lenses ever made. Also, if you get an L39->M Adaptor too you can use all the Leica lenses made from the 1930's till today.

To the Adaptor .. Well, not really what i expected, but i hope the will release some focus confirmation help with that new firmware too. Otherwise it will turn out just as useless for serious photography as the other brand adaptors, just with some nice gimmicks.

fuji does so many things right, but Y U NO RELEASE FULLFRAME RANGEFINDER?

so many people would forgive so many things to it...

also putting leica lenses on crop camera make sense if you already have many or to fight lack of own lenses to chose from, but they lose LOTS of its appeal when used cropped.

Not true.

A Sun hood is only good when the sun causes you trouble, creating all those stupid artifacts and reflections inside your lens. In my bag, all my sun hoods are on the lenses reversed for saving space.
Quite often I put a lens on my camera right off the bag, with the cap and the sun hood reversed. That doesn't mean I don't know what I'm doing.

What I would really need is a magnetic cap that stays on without any locking system and is removed by a single pull, without pressing or twisting or any other elaborate movement.
