I received some rumors that Samsung is working on new 1/1.7" CMOS sensor for smart phones - this may also explain why the NX camera line was abandon (at least for now):
Samsung has been moving people from their NX camera department to their mobile department.
Samsung is really focused to improve the smartphone camera and they have a very aggressive roadmap They are working on a new compact 1/2.3" sensor (the S7 has a Sony 1/2.5" sensor). The goal seems to be a camera phone with 1/1.7" sensor and a lens module with f/1.4 aperture.
Samsung wants to reach cameras with 18-24MP in the future.
Future smart phone cameras will inherit a new interface based on the NX.
Samsung recently announced a new mobile phone sensor with Dual Pixel Technology.
