Olympus Russia claims that rumors about exiting the camera market are “not true”, confirms that the company is under a major transformation in an effort to continue as a global medical company

Olympus Russia is trying to set the record straight by claiming on Facebook that the report from Business Journal Japan about Olympus being forced to exit the digital camera market is "not true"...  The entire post is not very convincing, because the first sentence right after the "not true" part states that "Currently, Olympus is undergoing a comprehensive transformation program to continue its development as a global medical company"...

I don't know if that report from Japan is true or not, but I am pretty sure that Olympus Russia also doesn't have a clue what is going on in the boardroom of Olympus headquarter in Japan. Does anyone really expect anything else besides denial even if the rumors turn out to be correct?

Here is the full post from Olympus Russia:

"Friends, more recently, several Russian-speaking resources, citing foreign sources, came up with loud headlines that supposedly, Olympus is closing the photo business.

For our part, we want to say that this information is not true.

Currently, Olympus is undergoing a comprehensive transformation program to continue its development as a global medical company.

The photo business plays an important role as a technology driver for all Olympus business lines, developing advanced digital and network technologies that are also used in our medical and industrial business. We will continue to improve the technology in photography, paying particular attention to our main advantages: compactness of the system, exceptional image stabilization capabilities and high-quality lenses."
