Dpreview published their interview with Zeiss on their upcoming ZX1 full-frame fix lens camera. Here are the main points:
The design and development of the ZX1 are completely done in-house.
The ZX1 project started four years ago.
The ZX1 has a slight bend on the rear cover glass that provides a natural separation between the live view area on the screen and the toolbar area on the right.
The ZX1 runs on Android - the startup time is the same as a smartphone: "The very first boot up sequence takes a while, but when the camera is up and running, a single push of the dial sleeps the camera but doesn’t turn it off. So the sensor is not running, the screen is off, and very little power is being used. But when you want to take a picture you just nudge the switch again and it wakes up. I think in sleep mode, during a whole day you can expect something like 10% battery drain."
