November CIPA numbers are out




CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association in Japan) published their camera production data for November 2020 (orange: 2020, black: 2019, blue: 2018, click for larger view):

November 2020 CIPA numbers

DSLR units dropped by almost 60,000 units and Mirrorless units dropped by almost 39,000 units as compared to October making units shipped in November the second best month of the year.

Cumulative Mirrorless shipped value is now 246% of DSLR shipped value.

At current pace, total ILC bodies in 2020 will be about 5.2 million units. It was 8.46 million in 2019, 10.76 million in 2018 and 11.68 million in 2017.

Mirrorless Units: 2.6m -28% YTD

Compact Shipped Value: ¥69.7 billion -43% YTD

Lenses for smaller than 35mm Units: 4.9 million -43% YTD
Lenses for smaller than 35mm Shipped Value: ¥69.2 billion -42% YTD

Lenses for 35mm and larger Units: 3.26 million, -28% YTD
Lenses for 35mm and larger Shipped Value: ¥159 billion -28% YTD

Mirrorless unit share (of Mirrorless + DSLR): 54.5% (was 46.3% Jan-Nov 2019)
Mirrorless Shipped Value share: 71.1% (was 61.5% Jan-Nov 2019)

The ratio of lenses shipped to bodies shipped is 1.71 for Jan-Nov 2020. It was 1.69 Nov- 2019
