Meyer Optik Görlitz issued a bizarre press release stating that they are now "a real company again". In terms fo future/upcoming products, the Trioplan 35 II, Biotar 58 II and Biotar 75 II are expected to be released in the fourth quarter. They also mentioned that other new products are already in the works or next year:

Meyer Optik Görlitz - a real company again!

Bad Kreuznach – 05th August 2021 – Meyer Optik Görlitz, until now a brand name only, is operating as an independent company with immediate effect, thus manifesting its basis for future developments.

"After almost 3 years of hard and intensive work, we are very happy to have laid the foundation for an independent Meyer Optik Görlitz GmbH and to be able to put it on its own feet" says Timo Heinze, Managing Director of the new Meyer Optik Görlitz GmbH. "After we, under the umbrella of OPC Optics, developed the brand's portfolio and established sales structures, the time has now come for Meyer Optik Görlitz to step out of the shadows as a 'real' company and operate independently on the market."

New foundation as a company

At the end of 2018, OPC Optics took over the "Meyer Optik Görlitz" brand and has since completely rebuilt the entire structure, including the portfolio. The consequence of this is now the new Meyer Optik Görlitz GmbH, based in Bad Kreuznach. "I would particularly like to emphasize that the foundation fits perfectly into the anniversary year of Meyer Optik and that, 125 years after the initial foundation, we can now breathe even more life and substance into the whole thing," explains Timo Heinze.

What will change?

There will be virtually no noticeable differences in the operational business. The existing contact persons will continue to be available to customers and suppliers. Internal synergies, such as lens production by OPC Optics and Pfeiffer Präzisionsoptik, will of course also be retained and will continue to ensure the best possible quality of Meyer Optik products in the future. Meyer Optik Görlitz GmbH will operate independently, alongside its sister companies OPC Optics GmbH and PPO Pfeiffer Präzisionsoptik GmbH and under the umbrella of a common parent company. The transition to organizational and administrative independence is to be completed by the end of the year.

The next steps

The Trioplan 35 II, Biotar 58 II and Biotar 75 II are expected to be released in the fourth quarter, expanding the portfolio of lenses with classic models. Likewise, other new products are already in the works, so more new launches can be expected next year.
