Canon test equipment stolen in Spain, new 14mm f/2.8 lens on the way?

A reader sent me this story - a German photographer testing new Canon gear got robbed in Spain:

"When he returned to his parking space in the Avenida Olof Palme, he saw from afar that the rear window smashed and the rear seat was folded. From the trunk valuable cameras and filters have been stolen. Among a Canon 1DX MK2, which is not yet on the market, as well as a Canon 2.8 / 14 mmL. Both cameras had to be asked the photographer by Canon for test purposes. As one of the cameras is not yet on the market, it is likely to be difficult to sell on the black market. The damage amounts to about 30,000 euros."

If the Google translation is accurate, it seems that in addition to the pre-production Canon EOS-1D X Mark II camera, there was also a not-yet-announced 14mm f/2.8 lens that was stolen as well.

Here is the full list of stolen equipment with serial numbers:

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark II DSLR camera is set to start shipping on May 1st.

Thanks Stephan!
