Fuji X-T2 is almost here (additional coverage from a recent event in Hong Kong)

The Fuji X-T12 is scheduled to start shipping next week in the US (September 8th). Here is some additional information/coverage from a recent Fuji X-T2 event in Hong Kong. First, a few Q&A:

a. Why Fuji still renders skin tones so “plastic-y”? Iida said Fuji is well aware of the situation based on online feedback, and they’re still working on it;

b. Why the X-T2 has a lower-res screen as compared with the X-Pro2 (1.04M vs. 1.62M)? A high-er res screen apparently produces more load to the system, and that Fuji’s aim is to have the screen and tilting mechanism more practical (and fault-free) rather than having the extra res;

c. Why F-log cannot be done in-camera? It seems that the X Processor is not that powerful enough to handle log gamma curves, and that doing so not only consumes more power but also produces more heat within the system (esp. given such a “compact” body design). Unfortunately, Fuji is still studying the situation and cannot guarantee F-log can be included in-camera thru future firmware updates, as Fuji is serious with effective heat management in their X camera products.
