A reader sent me a link to this dpreview forum post about an upcoming Panasonic camera that is supposed to be "something new and exciting, something that hasn't been done before":
I was at the PhotoPlus Expo in New York on Friday, where I asked a Panasonic rep about rumors of an upcoming new Panasonic camera. He said he wasn't allowed to tell me what it was going to be.
So, I asked him whether it would be a pro- or consumer-oriented camera, and he paused for a moment and said "both."
I then asked him if it was going to be a totally new camera, or an update to an existing camera? He stood there for what seemed the longest time without saying anything, so I interjected and said, "Oh, so that means it's going to be an existing camera."
At which point he replied that it is going to be something new and exciting, something that hasn't been done before.
Panasonic has been awfully quiet in the past few months since they announced “organizational and personnel changes” after reports about the company dismantling the digital camera business.
