Panasonic interview: the S1/S1R cameras are so big because of all of the tech that is inside
Dpreview published their interview with Panasonic, here is the recap:

- The S1/S1R cameras are so big because of all of the tech that is inside. The exact quote was: “The advice from professionals is that they place more importance on performance, not size“. I have to laugh here because for over a decade mirrorless companies have been promoting their cameras as a smaller and lighter alternative to DSLR. Apparently, this marketing strategy is now over.
- “The S1 and S1R will be the most durable cameras on the market” (whatever this means, maybe Panasonic can back this statement by providing a 5-year warranty for the new S system?)
- Entry level L-mount products are expected later.
- Panasonic is not interested in APS-C L-mount products.
- 8K cameras are expected to be released after the Olympics in 2020
