Here are the upcoming Sigma 500mm f/5.6 DG DN OS Sports & Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye Art lenses (full specs and pictures)

Here are the full specifications and pictures of the upcoming two new Sigma lenses for Sony E and L mounts (previously reported here):

Sigma 500mm f/5.6 DG DN OS | Sports

It was designed for mirrorless cameras, characterized by a combination of exceptional image quality with an extremely compact and light housing. By using multiple specialized low dispersion glass lenses, SIGMA has managed to significantly reduce the lens structure without the use of diffractive optical elements. At the same time, the lens achieved high resolution, which meets the expectations of a fixed focal length 500 mm lens. The lens body, composed primarily of precision polymer parts, features excellent build quality and weather resistance, including a dust- and splash-proof design**. SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports offers a completely new photography experience for wildlife, aviation, sports and other high-speed action photographers.

A handy 500mm lens with unrivaled optical parameters

Sigma 500 mm f/5.6 Sony E Thanks to the latest engineering techniques, it was possible to effectively minimize the size of the lens and maintain a high level of image sharpness and beautiful visuals.

The front of the lens uses complex lenses made of special low-dispersion glasses, which ensures both high aberration correction ability and a short overall length. SIGMA's only production base in Aizu, Japan, guarantees high precision in the assembly and processing of each lens. The lens perfectly corrects all aberrations, especially axial chromatic aberration, which the camera body cannot correct, ensuring stable, high resolution from the center to the edges of the frame

Great work against light - Sigma 500 mm f/5.6 Sony E

SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports uses refractive lenses in its optical system to prevent glare and ghosting that are characteristic of diffractive optical elements. Thanks to this, we can obtain sharp and contrasting images even when working against the light.

Fast AF with HLA linear drives

The lens uses an original HLA linear drive (High-response Linear Actuator), which is characterized by high speed and accuracy, as well as very quiet operation. Combined with the camera's AF system, we achieve very effective tracking of moving objects, which is particularly important, e.g. sports, nature or aerial photography - Sigma 500 mm f/5.6 Sony E

Extremely efficient OS2 image stabilization system

The latest OS2 optical stabilization algorithm ensures exceptional vibration reduction efficiency of up to 5 EV (based on CIPA guidelines). The lens has 2 OS operating modes:

Convenience and the highest quality of workmanship - Sigma 500 mm f/5.6 Sony E

The body of the Sigma 500 mm f/5.6 Sony E has been designed to be small and light, making the lens extremely easy to use when shooting handheld. Thanks to the optimized optical construction and the use of a body made of a combination of TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) and magnesium alloys, the lens is only 23.5 cm long and weighs only 1370 grams.

A wealth of functions supporting demanding photographers

The manual aperture ring allows you to conveniently control exposure. The ring rotates smoothly or with a characteristic "click", and if necessary, we can lock it in the Auto position. The lens also features a Focus Limiter switch that allows users to limit the range of the AF system, allowing for quick and precise focusing. Additionally, we have three AFL buttons that can be assigned a number of functions via the menu of selected cameras. The AFL buttons are easy to use regardless of camera orientation and provide quick and easy access to important settings. In the L-mount version, the SIGMA USB DOCK UD-11 can be used to set operating system behavior or the focus limit range for the custom mode switch*.

Reinforced housing body - Sigma 500 mm f/5.6 Sony E

The lens has increased resistance to weather conditions, in line with the specifications of the SIGMA Sports line**. The mount bayonet, manual focus ring, switches and external connectors are equipped with seals to prevent dust and dirt from entering the lens. Moreover, the front element of the lens is coated with a waterproof and oil-resistant coating, which makes maintenance easier if water droplets or dust enter the lens.

Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye | Art

By developing an ultra-wide-angle fisheye lens with distinctive image distortion, SIGMA has reached a whole new level of artistic potential by combining the world's first F1.4 aperture with exceptional image quality both at the center and at the edge of the frame. The lens performs great, among others: in astrophotography, which requires particularly high image quality, even with a wide open aperture. Unlike conventional "fish eyes", SIGMA 15mm F1.4 DG DN DIAGONAL FISHEYE | Art is exceptionally sharp across a full 180° viewing angle while offering an F1.4 aperture, making it ideal for a wide range of applications including astrophotography, landscapes and architecture. The expressive power of this all-new full-frame mirrorless lens opens up a wealth of creative possibilities in wide-angle photography.

A complement to the Art line, made with astrophotography in mind

The powerful distortion effect characteristic of fisheye lenses allows users to enjoy effects such as unique perspective and capturing the subject with a 180° viewing angle.

The optical structure of the lens consists of 21 elements in 15 groups, including 4 FLD lenses, 3 low-dispersion SLD glass lenses and 2 aspherical lenses. By correcting coma flares and other aberrations, the lens can precisely reproduce bright points of light throughout the frame, even with the aperture fully open, making it ideal for astrophotography, which is also supported by numerous additional functionalities:

MFL switch (manual focus lock) - Sigma 15 mm F 1.4 Sony E

Switch to lock the focus in the desired position. Prevents focus shifts caused by unintentional use of the focus ring. This is useful for long exposure photography.

Lens heater holder

The Sigma 15 mm F 1.4 Sony E has a specially designed lens front that prevents the lens heater* from extending and causing vignetting on the periphery of the screen.

Rear Filter Holder - Sigma 15 mm F 1.4 Sony E

A rear filter holder is standard equipment on the lens, allowing the installation of rear sheet filters. There is also a locking mechanism that prevents the filter from falling out.

Specially designed front cap with a locking mechanism and filter holes

Stable and easy-to-install front cover protecting the front lens. The lid features newly developed pockets for storing sheet filters. Designed exclusively for the SIGMA 15mm F1.4 DG DN | Art, effectively protects the front lens and sheet filters against scratches and dirt. Thanks to pockets for filters, they will always be ready for work and you will not forget to take them with you to the session.

Features typical of the Art line

Sigma 15 mm F 1.4 Sony E In addition to functionalities reserved specifically for star photography landscapes, the lens is equipped with additional features to make everyday life easier shooting, such as the AFL button, which can be assigned any function.

Like every DG DN | lens Art, yes, and the 15mm F1.4 DIAGONAL FISHEYE has an aperture ring with a locking option that can be used in both "click" and smooth modes.

The body is sealed against dust and splashes, and the front element of the lens is covered with a hydrophobic and oleophobic coating, which means the lens can be used even in difficult conditions**.

The HLA linear motor is responsible for automatic focusing, thanks to which the focus is set quickly, quietly and extremely precisely.
