Thypoch Brings a Faster and Brighter 50mm lens -- FF Simera 50mm f/1.4

The debut series from Thypoch, Simera, has distinguished itself through its appealing design, notably the depth-of-field indicator, which has captured the interest of numerous vintage lens enthusiasts. In line with the exceptional optical performance of the existing Simera 35mm and 28mm f/1.4 lenses, the upcoming 50mm fast lens will incorporate a crescent-shaped focus tab, a modification from the standard infinity lock, in response to the keenly expressed preferences of their supporters.

The Simera 50mm f/1.4 will be introduced to the market with a primary focus on M-mount users. This lens, designed to offer a perspective similar to human vision, lives up to every poetic moment of imagination and fleeting inspiration.

The Simera 50mm f/1.4 lens builds on the impressive optical capabilities of the Simera 35mm and 28mm f/1.4. With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.45m, it outperforms the majority of rangefinder lenses that are limited to 0.7m. This capability opens up new possibilities for close-up and intimate photography. More user-friendly, there is a gentle resistance feedback at 0.7m, prompting users to switch to the EVF for even shorter focusing ranges.

The Simera 50mm features an 8-element, 6-group optical design, including one aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion (ED) element, and three high-refractive index (HRI) element, leading to sharp and clear images even at wide open and corners. Its floating elements deliver exceptional resolution at 0.45m, rivaling most rangefinder lenses at 0.9m, for consistently sharp results.

With its fast f/1.4 aperture, the Simera 50mm excels in low-light conditions. The high refractive index multi-layer coatings and high refractive index elements deliver an abundant light transmission of up to T1.5, resulting in bright and vibrant images. The cine-standard 14-blade aperture creates a round and pleasing bokeh, presenting a gentle focus falloff that evokes a three-dimensional cinematic visual. The clicked-and-declicked aperture ring allows a smooth transition between photography and video modes for limitless creative expression.
