First leaked picture of the new Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200mm f/2.8 ASPH lens and Extender L 2.0x

LeicaRumors published the first leaked picture of the new Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70–200mm f/2.8 ASPH lens and Extender L 2.0x that are expected to be announced in the next few days:

With the Vario-Elmarit-SL 70–200mm f/2.8 ASPH, Leica will complete the “Holy Trinity” of f/2.8 lenses
Leica will also release a new Extender L 2.0x (previously rumored here) - currently, only the Leica Extender L 1.4x for Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400mm f/5-6.3 is available
Lens construction: 20 elements in 15 groups, with three aspherical surfaces
Internal focusing
Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70–200mm f/2.8 ASPH lens price: £2,780 including VAT (around $3,500)
Leica Extender L 2.0x price: £800 including VAT (around $1,000)
The new lens will not be developed in-house. Leica will most likely use one of the existing Panasonic lens designs: Panasonic Lumix S PRO 70-200mm f/2.8 O.I.S. lens for L-mount
