Tamron did not introduce any new lenses for the 2025 CP+ show, but they did announce that the company has completed construction and started operations at its second manufacturing plant in Vietnam (to avoid tariffs on goods from China?):
Tamron Co., Ltd.
Tamron Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Shogo Sakuraba, headquartered in Saitama City), a comprehensive manufacturer of optical equipment, today announced that it has completed construction and started operations at its second Vietnam plant, "Tamron Vietnam Vinh Phuc Plant," which was constructed with an investment of approximately 4 billion yen in order to expand production capacity, strengthen its system for stable supply, and strengthen its cost response capabilities.
Tamron Vietnam's Vinh Phuc Plant - completed
This factory is a mass production factory that can perform lens processing, metal processing, molding, painting, and assembly in one place, and we aim to establish a mass production system in 2026 and to be fully operational in 2028. By achieving this, our group's production capacity is expected to increase by approximately 1.2 times compared to 2024. We have a global tripolar production system, with our Aomori factory in Japan playing the role of a "mother factory" that establishes production technology, our China factory expanding production of products for the Chinese domestic market, and our two factories in Vietnam expanding production of products for the global market.
In addition to geopolitical risks, tariff risks against China have been increasing in recent years, but in anticipation of the emergence of such risks, we have been proceeding with the construction of this factory since 2023. In a rapidly changing society, we will continue to improve and strengthen our production system so that we can continue to deliver optical products to customers around the world.
