Panasonic will have 8k video sensor by 2018

Panasonic will resume the development of sensors capable of recording 8k video and wants to bring this technologies to consumer level cameras. The company halted their 8k development back in 2011, but now they are investing over $80 million in the next generation 8k image sensor that should be ready by 2018 (previous plans were for 2020).

It is not official, but I believe that Panasonic is behind the latest full frame sensor found in the Leica Q camera.
