Metz files for insolvency


The German TV and flash manufacturer Metz has filed for insolvency (insolvency is not the same as bankruptcy). Approximately 600 jobs would be affected. Just yesterday the company announced up to $90 mail-in rebates on their flashes in the US.

New flashes from Metz


Metz will soon announce a new Mecablitz 64 AF-1 flash (pictured above). The translated specifications can be found here. The company also announced that the Mecablitz 44 AF-1 and 52 AF-1 units (pictured below) are now available for the Sony Multi Interface.

World’s first: Metz Mecablitz 52 AF-1 flash with touchscreen


One product got unnoticed during the Photokina 2012 show – the new 52 AF-1 touchscreen flash from Metz (a world’s first). The flash unit will come in Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Panasonic, Leica and Sony versions. The estimated price is around €250. Full specs and features can be found in the press release:
