Samsung GX-2 monster

I received this picture anonymously - don't have any more details, but if true this will be a very interesting development from Samsung. Note also the lens: 16-55mm f/2.8:

Here is a picture of Samsung GX20 with a battery grip that could have been used as a base to create the above image in Photoshop:

Three years ago Samsung had a 10 megapixel DSLR prototype that was also called GX2 (source):

Screams fake to me. Looks a bit too much like a GX-20 w/ battery grip that’s been photochopped.
Text on the lens says 16-55 as well which I find even less likely.

    it looks heavily shopped
who ever made this did a very VERY tacky job with the “grip/body” moulding
its merely a K20D with the grip. then they shopped out the center and merged it to make it look as if its one, and even if this were true. it’ll never break into the professional market

I received this picture yesterday (I didn´t send it) I have some doubts about it, but something are curious.
-Samsung planned to use denomination of one digit (GX-”X”) before the actual GX-10 and GX-20 but kept it to high level (Pro) camera.
-Samsung has a patent to use double ring motor on DSLR lenses (I don´t remember the number) and curiously the system is Dual Sonic Motor (DSM).
-”Supreme” would be the denomination to high quality DSLR lenses, “S”

Maybe this picture is a photoshoped edition, but who made it know about Samsung…

I vote for fake – If you look closely you can see kind of a line between the grip and the body. Its hard to see – someone did a good job.

And here is the original to that fake:

Took me 5 seconds to find. Doesn’t anyone do research anymore before posting it on the net?

Yes, they are many pictures like that – it will take me even less than 5 sec to find one – still it does not mean anything. There is no proof that this is fake or real for now. It’s all guesses.

Oh come on, you can’t be THAT clueless. Just stack the two images in Photoshop if you need confirmation that one is obviously a manipulation of the other. All details in the pattern on the rubber are identical, for crying out loud! So are all highlights and shadows on the lens and the body. Plus: in the original, the filter size is 67mm, in the fake 77mm – while both lenses have exactly the same diameter. Of course the new lens manages to reach 2.8 instead of 4.0 without changing its front element – or, judging by the reflexes inside the lens, ANY of its elements. Do I really need to go on?

Dude, this is basic stuff if you’re gonna run a rumor site. You can still argue that camera makers have been known to manipulate images of new products themselves, but if you can’t tell this is a fake, I have a used car I’d like to sell to you. You’re making a fool of yourself here, man.

By the way: it says “16-55mm f/2.8″ on the fake, not 16-50.

Look, I’ve seen this both ways – I had rumors where “experts” were swearing their lives that the images were fake, just to release few weeks later they were wrong and the other way around, on the most ridiculous rumors some “pros” writing whole books why the image was real (just go back to the history of NikonRumor.com). My job here is not tell you what is real and what is fake – the reader should decide this for themselves, so you make your own conclusion and move on. If you want to read “real” and “confirmed” news, go to CNN – apparently this is not the site for you.

I will still add the GX20 picture to the post for comparisons.
