FAKE:
- Large photo supply shop would never divulge this and risk pissing Canon off. They did not grow large by shooting their mouth off.
- Large photo supply shops in NY/NJ are on Jewish Holiday and are not going to contact anyone with such info, especially not during Jewish holiday time.
Yep. Very good points. Well done.
Did you notice price increase rumors are quiet frequent with Canon? I think that is a way to push sales. “Hurry, hurry to buy this expensive TS/E lens before it gets even more expensive”.
Swiss Canon Pro Dealer says there will be a price increase of 2% on all Canon items on october, 1st.
From what I’ve heard it’s going to be 20-25% on all lenses. And that’s it. No other products are to be affected. Just the lenses. Bodies stay, compact cameras stay, video stays. Just the lenses get increased. Dramatically… just like Nikon’s increases earlier this year.
And Canon has had price increases nearly every year for the past 5 years. This should come as no surprise to anyone, regardless of dollar/yen ratios or any of that nonsense. It was going to happen, sooner or later.

I guess Sigma/Tamron will really be the big winners of this price increase. They are getting really good with their in lens stabilization and are a lot cheaper. This is a dumb move by Canon.
Um. Did this happen? I don’t think it did, but I don’t pay attention to Canon prices.
