Sony A730

I think at that point this is the fourth of fifth pdf style specification leak from Sony and I am starting to be very suspicious, especially since there is not a single picture of a new product:

LOL, I was looking for something like that, but did not see it. I also think those a fake – it’s just too many of them and there is not a single picture on those pdfs

More fake than a fake thing gone fakey. I counted 13 mistakes. I’m sure they are others.

You know what’s funny in those specs? That each next is completely different than previous one.
But that one is just pathetic… seems to be written by someone without any knowledge about Sony DSLRs.
    - Dual BIONZ for 14 MPx and 7fps? A550 does that without duals.
    - Pentaprism in A7xx? Very doubtful
    - f/2.8 AF sensor? huh? No way.
    - “XP Home and Professional” – noone serious writes like that
    - Window 7… or maybe 7 Windows?
    - Remote controller from A900? LOL…

Looks like someone mixed A900 with A500 specs in Photoshop to get this picture… duh. Obvious fake.

The A700 has a pentaprism, also has F/2.8 AF sensors as well. In fact, most dSLRs have at least the center point to be F/2.8.

But I’d agree this is fake. Especially regarding the spelling errors.

    Sky, why…
    -Pentaprism in A7xx? Very doubtful
-f/2.8 AF sensor? huh? No way.
    - Remote controller from A900? LOL…

    Can you explain why…

The a700 OVF is a prism, why not on a a7XX.
The a700/a850/a900 have a f/2.8 central (horizontal) AF sensor together to 4 (2 horizontal and 2 vertical) f/5.6 central AF sensors (dual cross sensor).
I don´t not what it mean about Remote controller, but the a700/a900 have a remote IR controller.

In my opinion Sony’s reputation really stands on what they do with their A700 replacement model. If they don’t knock one out of the park they are seriously going to be eclipsed by Canon and Nikon.

They NEED a new AF system to compete. And a seriously built camera to compete with the likes of the Nikon d300(s) and the Canon 7d.

I think the likes of the A550 and A500, two cameras that frankly tear it up against the D90 and the T1i, show that Sony has a linear vision that will stand nicely when they release whatever they have up their sleeves for the A700 replacement.

The 7D outresolves the vast majority of Canon’s lens lineup. All these poor folk buying it with their 18-200 because it is suddenly the boutique camera to own, with it’s iPhone h.264 and it’s diffraction limited 18mp, and the AF system that can’t possibly track at 7fps, are going to swear it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread when they’re not getting a whit of the money they actually spent on it.

The camera specs out nicely… but it’ll never be what it claims.
