New redesigend Zeiss Distagon ZF 1.4/35 with floating element

In his Leica M9 & Nikon D3x comparisson Erwin Puts wrote:

“Lenses used are the Summilux-M 1.4/35mm asph and a very new redesigend Zeiss Distagon 1.4/35 with Floating element.”

This sentence was removed after it appeared on FredMiranda forum.

    I wish they would add AF to their ZF series. Otherwise they are fantastic.

      yeah, I agree, but why are they not adding AF? It will surely bring more buyer if they do =.=

        Not sure, but maybe their deal with Sony denies them to produce AF lenses for any other system. They are a long time lens supplier for Sonys cameras, and have a good range of AF lenses, prime and zoom, for the Sony SLR line.

          This is, for all intents and purposes, correct. Sony essentially has exclusivity on AF designs for DSLR or other large sensor still cameras. For now.

      What for? AF is for sports stuff. I’ve used it just once on my 5D2 (for a snapshot of a cat *g*). It’s far too unreliable and causes lack of control. Get an Eg-S screen for the 5D2.. and contact lenses if this is isn’t more accurate than AF at least 90% of the time.
