    new coating..? bad production run that cost more than they 1st thought…? Jacking up the price to 450 and hopping no one remembers that it was going to be a $300 lens..? What else can they do so late in the game? and the review was not half bad, but good to know they (might) care about the product and the end consumer.

    The review posted here was far from glowing (“not half bad” implies the rest wasn’t 1/2 good). They’re smart to pull the thing before a wider audinience pans it. The 85 got surprisingly good reviews because it’s a well-thought out lens for a ridiculously low price. Probably won;t take much to fix it;

    They really need to put a DOF scale on this lens.

    No way they could “redesign” the lens and get it back in production in 2-3 months. Most likely they were getting lots of production duds, tried to jack up the price to compensate and realized they couldn’t sell it for 450 because you can get a used sigma 14 2.8 with autofocus for that money.

      They’re probably working on the lens coating (see post #1) to reduce lens flare– did you see the test results on lenstip?

      The price will probably drop to $349 after it’s widely available, the same at the 85mm f/1.4 and the 8mm fisheye did.
