Big dsicussion over at NikonRumors about this picture of Bob Krist. Apparently he is "shooting another one of those jobs that I can’t share with you (until the client uses the pictures) and it’s a gig that I can’t even show you the gear I’m using (that’s proprietary too).”
The question remains, is the camera a Nikon or a Sony?

it is a “NOKY” new brand who wil kill all the others & wil change for ever the world of photography.
More like “Nooky”, obviously Nikon and Sony are getting desperate and are so afraid of Canon they decided to combine forces. Now, in the finest tradition of Sony instead of one camera model with all the features we will get 142 models per each price point.
exactly. a evolved company of both. the resources of sony with the optics of nikon. genius
Krist is a longtime Nikon guy who’s paid to give Nikon-sponsored lectures and who’s got Nikon ads in Europe right now. If you look at his blog he usually lays out the gear he’s using … and it’s always Nikon, Nikon, Nikon. It’s extremely unlikely he’s using or switching to another brand.
and Sony use that, “a Long time Nikonian switch to Sony”
ROTFL

But with all that budget Sony has – it’s possible.
Why am I seeing the blue Zeiss logo on the lens then?
You’re not. That’s the M/A- M label and button on a Nikon lens. You’re seeing things because you want to believe so much that Sony has finally made an awesome camera lens combo that it would turn a lifetime Nikon user
It’s a Nikon, but if it makes you Sony guys feel better it probably uses a Sony sensor:)
i think it’s the low light and WB that make it look blue….. probably something sony users don’t understand though – haha
the C and N people always assume there are only 2 brands in the world
Coca Cola and McDonalds
The blue logo is a Carl Zeiss lens for Alpha.
The camera body is the new FF Sony A950 !
If you follow the threads on dpreview and nikonrumors you can see how the image matches Nikon not Sony. What you think is a blue badge simply is not… but feel free to hope as much as you want. Cross your fingers if you think that helps.
Yiva, you’ll be pleased to know that I’ve personally converted 30+ photographers in the past year to Sony from Canon and Nikon, totalling over $600,000.00 in gear that they owned made by other manufacturers. Trust me: if people like the gear and it does what they want, they switch… just like Sony knows that people have left their brand for others for the same reason.
Canon is well aware of Sony and this is why they got so aggressive on video as it is the only thing they really can get aggressive on at this point. Canon know that third party noise reduction software is so good, they have no other real advantages over Sony outside of prime lenses… some of which have no diffraction value at the pixel densities of their upper end cameras, including the 7D… and the simple fact of longevity and rabid fanaticism in the marketplace.
Someone up there said that Nikon and Canon users like to think there are only 2 manufacturers in the marketplace, and marketing allows them to feel that way… but only one manufacturer keeps posting positive gains in the DSLR market the past 5 years consecutively, and this is Sony. It’s not big numbers but they are there. Expect 2010 and 2011 to be exceedingly competitive across the field from all manufacturers but, moreso, expect Sony to either lead or to be in the thick with little effort.
Sony isn’t yet active for 5 years, more like 3,5 years. So it’s magical if they indeed already had a positive gain in DSLR before that time
Pretty amusing to wear that ‘pride’ so boldly in a discussion where it has no value whatsoever in the validity of your hopeful speculation.
If it turns out to be an A950, I’ll certainly take a second look. I am in the market for a Full Frame, and am going to purchase one in 2010. I am waiting to see what the various manufacturers have to offer this year.
Patiently waiting…..
I would be positively thrilled if Pentax finally offered a FF. But, I know it’s unlikely with the 645 due out. Sigh…

“Trust me: if people like the gear and it does what they want, they switch…”
The only reason for buying a Nikon body, is to able to use Nikon glass. Does a Sony take Nikkor Lenses? Didin’t think so; so I wont be switching.
+1
Other way: Des the Nikon take Zeiss AF lenses? LOL
the biggest drawback from Sony is, that it is Sony.
Second is probably design and support
Third is glass availability and problematics with third party strobes
Yes Sony has to fill gaps in their Lens Lineup.
But for a Pro they have great options.
f2.8 16-35 is class leading and better than all f2 or f2.8 Primes.
f2.8 24-70 is also equal or better than Nikon and Cannon offerings (counting how bad their cameras are said to be, it must be great as it is reviewed equal or better).
Same can be said for the f2.8 70-200.
f4-5.6 70-400 is class leading and very sharp at 400mm.
f1.8 135 is also class leading and sharp from f1.8 while Canon and Nikon starts at f2.
the STF
…..
What Sony now needs is a longer tele prime than the also good f2.8 300.
But only because of people with the need for short time replacement.
The used Minolta primes are very fine.
Minolta was and Sony still is more about the glass than the camera.
If they get competitive bodys…
And the thing with 3rd party flashes is such an old, bad and overused argument.
Metz and others are making Flashes for Minolta/Sony flash shoe.
Also most people without extreme tight budget go with the manufacturer of the camera anyway.
You are sad that Sony’s tilt head Flash does not work on other cameras?
“You are sad that Sony’s tilt head Flash does not work on other cameras?”
I do agree with this though, more like I’m sad Nikon don’t make a similar one…
The argument for “buying a Sony” DSLR is really only compelling for (a) previous owners of Minolta SLRs, or (b) new owners of a DSLR. After many years of Nikon (or Canon…) ownership, and a dozen or more compatible lenses… it would have to be a MIRACULOUS camera body to get me to have to sell and/or replace all of those Nikkor optics. For the average person, it’s not financially viable. Plus, ALL of the vendors are so competitive that there is very little left to differentiate one vendor over another; at any given price point (at least anything that would show up in an IMAGE).

this poor student got a 24mp sony and 4 2nd hand, very sharp minolta lenses for £2000 total.
I may add this was after waiting a looooong time for nikon to come out with something similar.i also doubt sony make discount offers to uk photography students, as nikon did, which are then couched in the most insulting terms, basically insinuating that it would be illegal to sell the camera to anyone after getting a discount. Real vote winner nikon. Nikon were also complaining that we didnt have enough students to sign up to their offer to make it worthwhile. Producing 2 national portrait prize winners in the last decade isnt that much is it ?
Anyway, as most still use film this is all pretty moot. I’d just like to show how nikon have fallen backward in this area, as in others.
