Fuji announcement on February 2nd, no Micro Four Thirds camera

fuji micro four thirds Fuji announcement on February 2nd, no Micro Four Thirds camera

The leaked FujiFilm cameras will be announced on February 2nd, 2010. The previously reported rumors (see here and here) about a new Micro Four Thirds camera from Fuji at PMA is now busted.

Do you know for a fact that the cameras leaked by letsgodigital are all Fuji has planned? Isn’t it common practice to announce P&S cameras prior to PMA (or Photikina) then announce DSLR’s (or in this case EVIL’s) right before the show or at the show itself?

Yes, this is possible but to be honest I can’t remember the last time that has happened. Companies are usually aiming at maximum impact, if they split their announcement, they will get less attention.

UNLESS they’re planning on throwing something big into the works and relying on sheer wow-factor to publicise it. By big I’m thinking something like a 12mp m4/3 EXR sensor in a body with GF-1 style form-factor, with a built in EVF (a la that of the EP-2) and some new Fujinon primes….

It’s just a shame it’d never happen in the real world.

this is completely incorrect-if you think that fuji is only going to announce 4 p+s cameras at PMA, you should not be operating this website-

if fuji just keeps doing P&S, i will just give up on them.

i cant wait to see their Super CCD FF DSLR / EXR M4/3.

i think fuji is so much of a fail nowadays!

So much promise, but of course too much expectations always lead to disappointment.
I think fuji would give a real boost to m43, esp with all the competition expected to come this year. It’d certainly push me in the m43 direction should fuji make an announcement. I really like my s5 sensor.
Let’s hope if there’s no announcement soon, that at least something’s in the works.

What if Fuji is waiting for Nikon to announce theirs first, using the same mount?

Well, Anonymous, that is an interesting thought. There have been tidbits suggesting that multiple manufacturers were going to bring out APS-C sensor in an EVIL camera. If there were to be a consortium of some sort they might want to attract the spotlight with simultaneous announcements.
