I met a photographer that raved about the last model: dynamic range and poster-sized prints, so i am disappointed if there’s yet another delay on this.

If it isint release before the next Nikon and Canon onslaught then it has no hopes. Im guessing right now it would have some success as long as its really good and cheap but if it gets another generation behind its doomed.

by the time it is released, i think ANY camera can out perform it… even the P&S.

I think they need to just skip it by now and whatever they do release should be called the SD16. No doubt it will have changed that much since whatever original problems they were having.

A Nikon D40X has better Sensor that the SD15

nobody cares. Most shops wont even stocked older models because it was mediocre at best in anything it tried. I dont really need something worse and more expensive and more limited to save only few centimeters here and there.

The sd14 has great sensor, everything just isn’t about pixels and noise performance. But what can i say about what sigma is doing with the SD15 except: Facepalm

The Foveon sensor is a nice sensor. I owned the DP2 and the colors are really great. But it’s only 4,7 Megapixels and for large prints it’s just not good enough.

The sd14 simply did not work as a serious camera. Too many problems and details not taken care in the design, UI, operation speed, etc. Plus a sensor that was nice at first, but has been outperformed in any field (even the so cared about color rendition) by other more recent sensors. Now the sd15 tries to reuse the same sensor in a camera that should be better than the predecessor. Knowing the Dp1,2, etc. design problems, I would predict that EVEN IF we ever see a sd15, it will be as problematic to use as the sd14… bar some small details (maybe bigger lcd screen, a bit quicker, etc.)
The question is: why don’t they simply stop producing cameras?

Agree. Please just leave the DSLR and keep DP…whatsoever is enough. That’s really an odd thing to see a company never give up an outdated technology with single selling point : quality. I believe if Canon, Sony or Samsung made a 4.7MP sensor with 1.7X APS-C size, they also can delivery superior quality as well.
But I really don’t mind if Sigma can make it pocket or name-card size with such a big sensor and sell it around 200 USD. She should make profit from it, I believe.

Have you seen the specs on that thing? 2.5-3 frames a sec., 320K LCD screen. The technology doesn’t justify the price tag.

Par for the course Sigma, par for the course. It might be 2011 before we see their 2006 camera. By then their specialty will be inventing off beat antiques. Why does Sigma continue to have great ideas but pull up lame? They have such potential to be an absolutely amazing lens/camera company but it can’t finish their projects properly. I don’t get it!
