I received some information from Asia that the current Sigma 300-800mm F/5.6 model will be updated this August.

If it gets OS it’d be terrific! It’s extremely useful for wildlife or action photography, but for this a tripod and MLU/remote would be extremely clunky; on a monopod the 300-800 still has enough shake to rob any sharpness, even with 1/1000s.
OS wont help above 1/500 second, still be nice though.
That’s not true. You do get diminishing returns above 1/500 (or whatever Sigma’s frequency is) but to say it won’t help is disingenuous
Most of what’s published on this site isn’t exactly facts, so I don’t think my statement was worse than most. Thanks for the correction though, it taught me a new word – disingenuous.
Btw, read this?

was my comment deleted or did i forget to hit post? ;-P
Well at any rate I think the 300/500/120-300/300-800 were all announced at the same time- may 1995 (along with the 70-200/50-500/180 and we already have updates to 2 of the 3 lens).
I would personal like to see the 500mm revamped with OS, as 300-800 is just to big to carry around.

thanks for letting me know. kinda thought it was my fault. And @spam as OS will produce some problems (image doubling) above 1/250 it does not mean it will not be better than a completely blurry picture. and if the lens works at 1/1000 then 3 stops later with OS and we are at 1/125. it should help sometimes but ya the value of OS in a lens above the size of a 500 f4 is not as useful.
