Some Canon rumors

Some Canon rumors:

Canon has already unofficially discontinued the Canon 50D, and will be making this official very soon, end of June or sometime in early July. Canon announcements seem to be have been moved forward then initially planned. The Canon 60D (unconfirmed model name, but will most likely be this) was originally set for Photokina/September, but now looks like it may have been brought forward. Previous rumors indicated that Canon will have an announcement in mid-July.

Canon 5D Mark III will not be announced this year.

Hope the new rumors are wrong about the 5D mark III.

I too am excited for the 5dIII announcements. I am curious to see what improvements they will make and how much it will drive down the price of a used 5dII

I’m looking forward to 60D, it will be most interesting to see just what it will have to offer comparing to 550D. 550D has been called 7D “lite” so what new can 60D offer other than bigger form factor, top LCD and possibly better environmental sealing? Canon at the moment does not have a real beginner camera (1000D is really showing its age now comparing to its competition) but I don’t think that 60D can plug that particular gap.

7D was a big surprise being a small-sensor camera in the one-digit line, not something that many people expected so I think we can be in for a similar surprise with 60D. Since the middle and top-end small-sensor segment is already so crowded, 60D could be a cheapie full-sensor DSLR – a direct response to Sony’s efforts. Only time will tell…

I can’t believe a FF sensor camera for $1400 US.

But am looking for a FF 3D 18mp FF, and 8 FPS in a small body.

Maybe it will be 1.3x… that could be interesting.
