 Four new Sony cameras rumored: A33, A55, A560, A580
Details about four new APS-C based cameras from Sony have surfaced online:

  • A55 16MP 10FPS EVF-1.44M 1.1X magnification 95% AVCHD full HD
  • A33 14MP 7FPS EVF-1.44M 1.1X magnification 95% AVCHD full HD
  • A560 14MP 7FPS MF recording AVCHD full HD
  • A580 16MP 7FPS MF recording AVCHD full HD

Announcement is expected in August, in stock in September.

The A33 and A55 models are rumored to be Pellix cameras.

All new models are expected to have DOF preview, panorama/3D, ISO 100 (base), 15 AF focus points and AF during video recording. Nikon is also expected to announce an entry level D3100 with continuous AF during video recording.

    hm… looks like there will be a small race between Sony and Nikon.
    Though my guess is that Nikon gonna make it first (they seem to care less about big event which the Photokina in late September is, than the Sony do), though Sony will be MUCH much better, as Nikon gets contrast AF while Sony will have phase detection AF, which makes immerse difference.

    Either way, looks like new era of DSLR is coming. Sony promised to make great video-capable DSLR and according to this – it won’t have amazing video capabilities alone, but also will be a stunning still-photo camera.

    Only if the EVF will have quality good enough…. (and preferably: the option to calibrate it)

    It remains to be seen just how fast these machines really are–I hope they carry over the aggressive specification into the maximum sync and shutter speeds.

    Doesn’t pelix mean semi-transparent mirror?
    This is rumored to have EVF…
    That would mean miror is just for phase detect sensor right?
