In an interview with AP, Rob Clark (executive director of Epson Europe Marketing Division) stated that Epson is working on various new digital camera technologies that could bring a new version of the R-D1. The exact quote was: "whether we come out with another version of the R-D1 is a possibility".
The Epson R-D1 was the world's first digital rangefinder camera and was introduced back in 2004.
In addition to the AP report, I received some information that a new version of R-D1 is exactly what Epson has in mind and they openly talked about it at a recent photography event.

Yahouuuuu!!!!!!!!!
2011????
That would be wonderful. I think it was just a little ahead of its time. Putting an M lens on a 4/3 body just ain’t cuttin’ it.
hopefully it will be full frame
Probably won’t be, seeing the difficulty Leica had in making the M9. Maybe like the M8, 1.3x crop?
I also hope they increase the rangefinder base length, it makes a huge difference but seems like a very easy change.
I don’t think it will survive in todays market if it is anything less than full frame.
YES!!!
What a fantastic idea.
I only just noticed the film advance on the R-D1…
The film advance was retained in the design to cock the shutter. I’m willing to bet that the new design unfortunately won’t have this feature.

It’s about time! Hurry up Epson!
I enjoyed this camera when it came out. WIsh they kept it up. Better images then a lot of cameras that day especially low light.
