I don’t see no mic holes.

It’s a mock-up. AFAIK, it could be a wood block.

The prototype looks like it was the finished design. If you look closely, you’ll see the the “F1.8″ sticker dent is on the prototype too. They just didn’t put it there, probably to keep the specs of the lens under wraps at the time.

I noticed that too – exactly the same design.

Looks like Olympus gets my next compact camera buy. That plus a Vivitar DF-183 OLY (small bounce flash) will be one hell of an indoor combination. Heck, I might even leave the flash at home, given the low light performance of that Panasonic sensor.

      You mean Sony sensor? ;)

I’d really love to see a compact camera giving some ‘serious competition’ to the Panasonic LX5.

    …And yet again no 24mm.

Admin, the lens says f/1.8-2.5, do you have a source saying it will be 2.8?

No need to excuse, just wondering what the real numbers would be ;-)

It is written the lens will have f/1.8-2.8 aperture range, but from the first pic, f/1.8-2.5 is marked on the lens.

Although with a fast lens, still no blurred backgrounds with that tiny sensor, alas.

So what? Another small sensor compact with unlimited depth of field. Stupid.

You’re looking at it all wrong. As an SLR user, I can’t always lug the damn thing around, especially walking around downtown where I work… That’s where this Oly comes in. Small, sharp, fast, and versatile enough lens, and some serious consideration against small SLRs IMO. I think this would be amazing for street photography.

This cam looks SO much like my canon s95 … except some minor styling differences. But the lens on this one is (at least spec wise) is superb … the s95 is f2.0 at 28 and f4.9 at the tele end … it is way too slow for my taste. If the Oly lens is just as super sharp as the canon one then I won’t be able to resist buying it!

Well done Oly … an intriguing product for sure!

Hope oly & 3rd Party bring out some descent underwater housings. The cam could well compete w/ Canons G-series if Olympus doesn’t spoil the job.

bah, fixed 24mm (35mm equiv lens) and an m43 sensor would’ve made sense to me.
