I received some reliable information that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3 camera will be announced on May 12th, 2011. I do not have any specs yet. Panasonic seems to be releasing a new Lumix G camera approximately every 6 months (in Spring and Fall):
- G1 was announced on September 12, 2008 (now discontinued)
- GH1 was announced on March 3, 2009 (also discontinued I believe)
- G2 and G10 were both announced on March 7, 2010 (G10 is already discontinued)
- GH2 was announced on September 21, 2010

Awesome…another great camera that no one will able to buy due to Panasonic’s esoteric distribution system. By the time someone reverse engineers a chip for third party batteries (i buy them not to save a buck, but because i can’t get an OEM one to save my life) the G4 will be announced. Why Panasonic must you insist on being such a love/hate company? And before anyone says i’m being insensitive to the plight of the Japanese people, at the end of the day i don’t give a cr@p about cameras and wish the people of that great nation a quick recovery.
So what are tge supposed specs on this wonderfull and imporatnt upgrade?
It’s nice to see another good camera for this system.
The timeline here of Lumix G camera presentations seem to mention only G and GH models – whereas GF models 1 nd 2 are forgotten…?
SO EXCIIIIIIIIIITEDDDDDDD!
